If any British footballer can be said to encapsulate the fantasies of the nillions who follow the game, it is surely Alan Shearer - the closest equivalent to the sort of larger-than-life hero you might find in the pages of a boys'comic.
A biography of footballer Alan Shearer. The book considers how Shearer's temperament and personality have complemented his natural ability, and argues that it was down to him that Blackburn won the League for the first time in 81 years, and that England went so far in Euro 96.
